Job Summary:
Sonora Behavioral Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in Tucson, AZ. As a Behavioral Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' physical and behavioral health needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans to address their unique requirements.
- Provide and coordinate care, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and compassionate treatment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, educating patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
- Ensure that patients' status is assessed on an ongoing basis, gathering and documenting pertinent information to inform care decisions.
- Notify physicians of significant changes in patients' status, such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, or changes in response to medications.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans, ensuring that they are specific to patients' assessed needs.
- Accurately administer medications, documenting accurate counts of controlled substance medication administration as required.
- Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately, as directed.
- Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients, maintaining professional boundaries and respecting personal space.
- Provide direction or coordinate the activities of the unit, as directed.
- Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, co-workers, and others involved in patient treatment.
Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license, as required by the state of employment or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with state requirements.
- One year of nursing experience, with previous psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance abuse nursing experience preferred.
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
