Dietary Worker

We are seeking a skilled Dietary Worker to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn. In this role, you will perform routine general service tasks in the kitchen, cafeteria, dining room, dish room, and patient areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with catering events as needed.
- Foster an environment that promotes teamwork.
- Maintain established department policies and procedures, objective quality improvement programs, safety environment, and infection control standards.
- Tend and load the dish machine.
- Prepare and deliver late trays to patients on the units and ER.
- Collect all soiled trays and return them to the dish room in a timely manner.
- Collect and dispose of trash and garbage as needed.
- Wash pots according to pot washing instructions and fill out logs.
- Sweep and mop the floor and perform assigned special cleaning duties.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, storage areas, pantries, floors, refrigerators, equipment, and deliver patients' nourishments to nurse pantries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assemble food trays for regular and modified diets per patient diet order/request.
- Visit patients for verbal menu selection.
- Set up stations before meal service.
- Prepare cold foods such as salads, desserts, sandwiches, etc. for patients, cafeteria, catered functions according to production sheets and written or oral instructions.
- Pan prepared food per production sheets and label properly.
- Complete production sheets and temperature logs as needed.
Requirements:
- Ability to read, write, speak English, and follow oral and written directions.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous hospital and/or food service experience desirable.
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
