Position Summary:

The Speech Pathologist is accountable for the administration and direct implementation of speech and language therapy interventions as directed by a referring medical professional. This role involves:

  • Conducting assessments, planning, directing, and executing treatment for all patients referred for speech and language therapy.
  • Facilitating recovery and enhancing functionality for individuals affected by speech and language disorders resulting from illness or injury.
  • Supporting patients in achieving optimal performance and reintegration into daily life while accommodating their specific challenges.
  • Engaging in departmental performance improvement initiatives and contributing to continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Ensuring personal professional development and competency in the field.
  • Providing insights regarding budgetary considerations related to speech therapy services to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Assisting in the coordination of patient appointments for evaluations and therapy sessions.
  • Participating in infection control, safety, and educational programs within the department and organization.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in speech-language pathology.
  • Current licensure in Speech Pathology.
  • In-depth knowledge of speech pathology principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in technical skills pertinent to speech therapy.
  • Understanding of infection control measures and their relevance to rehabilitative practices.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Work Environment:

This position is classified as part-time, with a standard schedule of 28 hours per week. The role involves a combination of administrative and clinical responsibilities, ensuring a balanced workload.
