Flagstar Bank is in search of a dedicated Commercial Banking Officer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in cultivating new commercial lending opportunities and overseeing a designated portfolio of commercial loans. The Commercial Banking Officer acts as a liaison for both existing and prospective clients seeking commercial loan solutions tailored to their needs. This position entails conducting interviews and performing credit assessments on new and existing loan applications, ultimately determining the recommendation for approval or denial of credit requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate new business by engaging with current and potential commercial clients within the target demographic.
- Meet with applicants to gather necessary information; compile and evaluate data for loan applications; forward applications to credit analysts for financial analysis and approval suggestions.
- Advise potential borrowers on products and services while addressing inquiries regarding loan requirements and processes.
- Assess loan applications in accordance with bank policies and the types of loans available.
- Prepare and present loan proposals and documentation following bank standards for review by senior management and relevant committees.
- Collaborate closely with Loan Assistants and Credit Analysts to expedite loan decision-making.
- Monitor the existing loan portfolio to uphold a high standard of credit quality.
- Act as a brand ambassador within the community and engage in local volunteer opportunities.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Finance, Administration, or a related field.
- Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the financial sector.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication, and presentation abilities.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Exhibit courtesy, tact, and diplomacy; relate to others in an open and accepting manner.
- Effective communication: Convey information clearly and thoroughly in both verbal and written formats using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Customer Service: Committed to delivering exceptional service to both internal and external clients.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve goals and resolve issues.
