We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary VP Sustainability to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. as a key member of our executive leadership team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our sustainability strategy across the organization, driving the integration of sustainability principles into our business operations, and ensuring alignment with our corporate values, stakeholder expectations, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with the company's vision and goals, providing strategic guidance to the executive team on sustainability-related matters.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including Operations, Legal, HR, Finance, and Communications, to embed sustainability considerations into business processes and decision-making.
  • Innovation and Impact: Drive innovation in sustainable practices and initiatives that reduce environmental impact, improve commercialization of sustainable products, and provide leadership for unlocking new technologies.
  • Legacy Portfolio: Provide leadership and effective oversight of reclamation activities at non-operational sites across the country to mitigate environmental risk.
  • Large Scale Land Development Projects: Ensure maximum value creation and long-term sustainable use of key land holdings.
  • Policy Development: Lead the development and implementation of policies and practices that promote sustainability, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • M&A: Support large acquisition and disposal activities.
  • Industry Leadership: Represent the company in industry leadership roles and oversee company representation across product lines on codes and standards associations.
  • Training and Development: Foster a culture of sustainability within the organization by providing training and development programs for employees at all levels.
  • Sustainability Reporting: Oversee the preparation and publication of the company's sustainability reporting, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and compliance with global standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, corporate responsibility, or a related field, with at least 5 years in an executive leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful ESG strategies and programs.
  • Strong understanding of relevant reporting frameworks, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and drive organizational change.
  • Thought leadership in sustainability and a commitment to making a positive impact.
