Psychiatric Technician

Job Summary:

As a Psychiatric Technician at DHR Health, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the personal care and comfort of psychiatric patients, creating a safe and clean environment that promotes their well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct a thorough client inventory in the Intake area, ensuring accurate documentation and communication with the nursing team.
• Provide vital signs and intake/output records, notifying the RN of any changes or unusual occurrences.
• Assist with ADLs, transferring patients, and performing patient safety checks at scheduled times.
• Participate in patient care conferences, communicating effectively with the Nurse Manager, RNs, and physicians.
• Demonstrate de-escalation techniques and set limits for patients, promoting a safe and respectful environment.

Requirements:

• High school/GED preferred.
• CPI training required within 30 days of hire date.
• Current CNA certification required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One to two years of experience as a nursing assistant, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
• Reasoning ability and good independent judgment, with a professional image and presentation.
