Position: Program Support Specialist - Veterinary Technician
This position serves as a vital support role within the veterinary technician domain, tailored for SoBran, Inc. The responsibilities outlined here are intended to provide a general overview of the role and may be subject to modifications as necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Program Support Specialist is tasked with a variety of essential duties, including but not limited to:
- Arriving punctually for scheduled shifts, which typically occur between 6:00 AM and 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential weekend and holiday shifts as determined by management.
- Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of daily operations across multiple facilities and species.
- Adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Assurance Standards.
- Assisting veterinarians during examinations and procedures, while promptly notifying them of any emergencies or health concerns.
- Administering clinical treatments as directed, including various methods such as topical, oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intravenous, and intradermal.
- Monitoring animal health and maintaining accurate health records.
- Collecting physiological data, including pulse, respiration, heart rate, and body temperature.
- Identifying and reporting signs of abnormal health conditions.
- Cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing animal support areas, including operating rooms and preparation rooms.
- Assisting with anesthesia and recovery for animals undergoing surgical and imaging procedures.
- Providing support in the surgical room, including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Participating in the training and orientation of surgical procedures.
- Preparing and transporting animals for imaging while monitoring them during the process.
- Maintaining surgical equipment and inventory, ensuring expired items are removed promptly.
- Addressing quality control findings in a timely manner.
- Meeting physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs and maintaining physical activity for extended periods.
- Safely handling and disposing of hazardous materials as required.
- Performing additional duties as assigned, with an expectation of certification at the LAT level or equivalent training and experience.
