Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Observation Nurse to join our team at OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center. As an Observation Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care in a hospital setting, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional outcomes.

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a weekly pay of $2146.0. The shift details include 36 hours per week, working night shifts from 7 PM to 07:00 AM.

Job Description

As an Observation Nurse, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing nursing care to patients with a range of health conditions, from simple to complex
  • Documenting patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments
  • Assisting physicians in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
  • Obtaining and monitoring physiological data of patients, observing and intervening as necessary
  • Administering prescribed medications

In addition to these responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to:

  • Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
  • Deliver competent patient care
  • Interact with patients and families to share care plans during the hospital stay and at discharge
  • Inform patients and families of hospital procedures
  • Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
  • Delegate tasks to support staff

You will be required to possess good verbal and written communication skills, respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors, and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
  • The ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN
  • A current RN license issued by the State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
  • Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

You must also be proficient in English and have an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
