Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated RN Radiology Specialist to join our team at Nicklaus Children's Health System. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individual patient care on a nursing unit according to unit policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate patient progress, critical findings, and changes in condition to physicians and other disciplines involved in patient care.
  • Plan, implement, and document patient care plans in collaboration with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, efficient care and facilitate patient flow.
  • Provide ongoing assessment of patients, utilizing knowledge of age-specific criteria and chief complaint, and engage in patient/parent teaching before, during, and after procedures.
  • Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality, and serve as a patient advocate.
  • Prepare and plan for patients with sedation/anesthesia history, review patient medical records, prior medications administered, reactions to sedation/anesthesia, and all pertinent information.
  • Anticipate and prepare for complications arising from sedation medications/procedures.
  • Evaluate patient response to sedation/anesthesia, monitor and recover patients according to hospital policy, and communicate findings to other team members as needed.
  • Confirm appointments 1-3 days prior to procedures, obtain medical, sedation, and procedure history, and current medications, and provide procedure/discharge instructions and document in EMR.
  • Independently access patient EMR according to hospital policy, complete accurate and timely documentation in patient EMR, and obtain consents as needed for procedures.
  • Provide education and document on patient/family teachings on health-related needs, disease, medications, treatments, pain, discharge, safety, nutrition, skin care.
  • Follow physician orders and administer medications as directed, adhere to the Six Rights of Medication Administration, and promote a safe 'error-free' working environment by consistently performing thorough hand-offs and infection prevention measures.
  • Initiate intravenous access and place urinary catheters as per hospital policy, assess all body systems, ensure safe, effective, efficient care delivery with emphasis on the absence of medication errors, avoidance of falls from surfaces, and reduction of pain.
  • Ensure safe, effective, efficient care delivery with emphasis on the absence of infections, secure of Endotracheal tubes when applicable, and observance of skin integrity to prevent skin breakdown.
Requirements:
  • BSN degree or currently enrolled in BSN program.
  • PACU or Sedation training is preferred.
  • Career Development: National certified preferably within 5 years of hire.
  • Ability to be on-call as needed.
  • Pediatric Nursing experience in Critical Care/OR/Emergency Room setting is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely fashion with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate strong time management, critical thinking, verbal, and written communication skills.
