Histology Technician

PennState Health is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced laboratory environment.

• Receive and process laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate identification and acceptability.
• Enter orders for laboratory testing into the Lab Information System and patient demographic and insurance information into the patient registration system.
• Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure compliance with laboratory testing requirements.
• Provide exceptional customer service, answering telephone inquiries and providing information on specimen requirements, test availability, and laboratory results.
• Prepare specimens for referral to outside reference laboratories and ensure compliance with storage requirements.

• High School Diploma plus additional training or equivalent knowledge required.
• Training of up to 18 months beyond the high school level or equivalent knowledge required. Applicants trained outside of the United States must provide documentation of equivalency evaluation of their education and training to ensure it is equivalent to CLIA requirements.

• Six (6) months job-related experience preferred.
