Position Title: Locksmith Service Technician
Reports To: General Manager or Owner

Key Responsibilities:
The Locksmith Service Technician role is essential to the success of The Flying Locksmiths Philadelphia and plays a crucial part in the company's expansion. Technicians are expected to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to collaborate effectively with the team and work independently when required. This position demands a hands-on approach, suited for individuals with a technical aptitude. Ideal candidates will possess locksmithing expertise and a willingness to learn new technical skills and methods.

Key Duties Include:
  • Responding to emergency service requests for commercial clients.
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining both Commercial and Residential hardware.
  • Experience with Safe and Card Access systems is highly desirable.
  • Full Frame/Door Replacement experience is a significant advantage.
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining Access Control Systems.
  • Modifying hardware for locks as needed.
  • Creating and managing master key systems.
  • Re-keying commercial locks and performing lock pinning.
  • Interpreting various instructions in written, diagram, or schedule formats.
  • Troubleshooting in diverse situations with multiple variables.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, adjusting, calibrating, and servicing equipment.
  • Reading operating and maintenance manuals effectively.
  • Writing simple correspondence when necessary.
  • Presenting information effectively to clients and commercial customers.
  • Performing basic arithmetic operations in various units of measure.
  • Cutting keys according to codes.
Operational Support:
  • Receiving verbal instructions from Management or Clients.
  • Completing small projects as assigned by Management.
  • Accurately completing and submitting paperwork in a timely manner.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on technical experience in locksmithing, access control, door hardware, or related trades.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a diverse clientele including customers, partners, technicians, and other employees.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to work safely on ladders.
  • Compliance with company vehicle policies while driving.
  • Delivering high-quality and timely customer service.
  • Communicating effectively with clients to ascertain required services.
  • Responding to general inquiries from customers and clients.
Physical Requirements:
  • Fluency in understanding, speaking, and writing English.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Capability to kneel, crouch, and stoop.
  • Ability to reach above and below shoulder height.
  • Proficient use of hands and fingers for grasping, twisting, and pulling.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to endure various weather conditions throughout the year.
