TEST SPECIALIST (FAIRINGS) - NIGHT SHIFT
As part of our Fairing Integration & Test team, we are seeking skilled Test Specialists to facilitate the evaluation of components and assemblies associated with the Falcon Payload Fairings.
The Integration and Test team utilizes a variety of testing equipment, including electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Test Specialists will be tasked with executing and documenting test protocols established by SpaceX, as well as engaging in projects aimed at refining and enhancing these procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with design and process engineers to create and formalize test protocols.
- Conduct tests in accordance with established procedures.
- Design necessary fixtures and adapters for testing.
- Prepare and verify test hardware and instrumentation.
- Implement and execute tests (static load, pressure proof, leak, functional, thermal, etc.) as per the test plan, ensuring accurate documentation of results.
- Address non-conformances and develop manufacturing planning instructions to support procedures, assembly, or testing.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in payload, spacecraft, automotive, oil & gas, aircraft, or aerospace integration or testing.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's degree.
- Airframe & Powerplant license.
- Experience with actuators, plumbing, and pressure systems.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Experience in troubleshooting electrical components and systems.
- Familiarity with structural test equipment/services.
- Knowledge of strain gauge installation.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in optimizing testing processes.
- Familiarity with automated testing and ground software.
- Experience with ground support equipment in the aerospace sector.
- Background in the space exploration industry, aviation, military, or other high-reliability environments.
- Understanding of various fittings such as NPT and A/N.
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, and heavy equipment.
- Demonstrated capability in interpreting technical manuals and reports.
- Use of precision measuring instruments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective data exchange with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must pass Air Force background checks.
- Availability for night shifts: 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM.
- Willingness to travel to various sites as necessary; up to 10% travel may be required.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods (minimum of 8 hours).
- Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in confined spaces.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Capability to lift up to 35 lbs. unassisted.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Test Specialist/Level 1: $38.00/hour
Test Specialist/Level 2: $43.00/hour
Test Specialist/Level 3: $48.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis, considering job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is part of a comprehensive rewards package at SpaceX, which may include long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and access to stock purchase plans. Employees also receive medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various discounts and perks. Additionally, employees accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and are eligible for 10 or more paid holidays annually.
