The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) plays a vital role within the Nursing Department.
The OR RN is accountable for the nursing care of surgical patients, employing hospital policies, guidelines, and AORN standards to ensure safety-focused care.
This position involves managing intraoperative care by utilizing the nursing process, independent judgment, critical thinking, and effective communication with all team members involved in the surgical phase, including surgeons, surgical assistants, and anesthesia personnel.
The OR RN formulates a tailored care plan for each patient, considering individual needs and specific requirements from the surgeon, guided by resource maps.
Continuous monitoring and assessment of each patient is essential, adhering to AORN standards of care, and evaluating patient responses to surgical interventions, with necessary adjustments to the care plan.
In the event of complications or emergencies during surgery, the OR RN must recognize and respond promptly. This role reports directly to the Clinical Manager of Surgical Services or the Executive Director in their absence.
The OR RN ensures that all services align with the mission statement and SPIRIT values of LifeBridge Health.
REQUIREMENTS
• Required: Associate's Degree
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
• 2-4 years of completed coursework from an accredited nursing program
• CPR certification - AHA Healthcare Provider
• RN - Registered Nurse
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
• Experience in the Operating Room is required
