Crate Fabricator

At Fairbanks Morse Defense, we are seeking a skilled Crate Builder to join our team in Fairfield, OH. As a Crate Builder, you will be responsible for constructing custom crates according to specifications provided for each fan model. You will utilize various tools and equipment such as saws, nail guns, and measuring devices to cut and assemble wooden crates.

• Construct custom crates according to specifications provided for each fan model.
• Utilize various tools and equipment such as saws, nail guns, and measuring devices to cut and assemble wooden crates.
• Audit and participate in 5S in the department.
• Maintain skid inventory to always be aware of what is available for orders.
• Identify and assure all items needed to be shipped for the day are packaged and crated.
• Ensure crates are properly reinforced to withstand transportation and handling elements and other stresses.
• Perform quality checks on finished crates to verify compliance with packaging standards.
• Assist in inventory management by tracking and replenishing crate materials as needed.
• Ship in ERP system all product that will be physically shipping each day.
• Assure all packing slips and BOL are created and provided to the carrier and filed for shipments.
• Attach all labels regarding shipments, customers, products, packaging, and load trucks.
• Complete all other duties assigned by your manager.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Knowledge of manufacturing performance indicators such as productivity, utilization, and efficiency.
• Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with employees.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• This position includes access or potential access to export-controlled data. Therefore, you must qualify as a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident, or a political asylee in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

• A solid understanding of the product offerings and customer base.
• Experience utilizing electric and pneumatic tools required.
• Experience using nail guns, staplers, miter saws, drills, impact wrenches, reciprocating saws, and a variety of other hand tools.
• Previous forklift and/or walk-behind pallet jack experience preferred.
• Previous overhead crane experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lean principles.
