Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at McLeod County. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive health care services to individuals and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive individual and family assessments to determine health needs and develop care plans.
  • Provide care coordination, case management, and referral services to vulnerable populations and high-risk groups.
  • Develop relationships with parents and children to promote healthy growth and development.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and care plans in medical records.
  • Respond to emergency situations and summon other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Collaborate with community partners to develop and deliver health promotion programs.
  • Participate in public health emergency response efforts and training exercises.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota.
  • Associate degree in nursing and two years of experience or equivalent.
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license.
  • Current Health Care CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in public health nursing.
  • Experience working in community settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college.
  • Public Health Nurse certificate.
  • Ability to speak and interpret Spanish.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a variety of settings, including offices, clinics, schools, and community locations. Employees may be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases.

Travel to and from field locations may subject employees to increased risk of driving hazards.

Employees in this classification may occasionally need to relate to members of the public who exhibit challenging behaviors.

Physical Requirements

This position requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. Employees must be able to hear and speak effectively, and have visual acuity to read computer screens and medical instrument displays.

Employees must be able to apply physical coordination to safely drive an automobile and enter small spaces in motor vehicles.

Manual dexterity is required to type on a keyboard and use a computer mouse.

Employees may be required to lift and carry files and boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.
