The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory is on the lookout for a skilled Financial Planning Analyst to join its Business Operations Department. Key Responsibilities:Primary Duties:
Financial Analysis and Budget Management (70%):
- Develop various financial reports to facilitate the Laboratory's budget planning and execution processes, including future projections and calculations of provisional and actual indirect rates.
- Conduct monthly evaluations of indirect cost recovery at provisional rates.
- Generate comprehensive reports for submission to the Department of Energy (DOE).
- Provide analytical and financial support to the Budget Director and CFO, including addressing ad hoc data requests from the DOE.
Additional Responsibilities (30%):
- Assist Principal Investigators in preparing and submitting proposals outside the regular cycle to the DOE.
- Perform maintenance tasks within the Oracle system as assigned to the Budget Office, such as setting up new projects and updating funding information.
- Contribute to the development and revision of Budget Office procedures and documentation.
- Complete other assigned tasks as necessary.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field; an advanced degree such as an MBA is advantageous.
- 5-8 years of experience in a budgeting or accounting environment.
- Familiarity with Oracle financial systems is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience in creating and maintaining complex financial spreadsheets.
- Strong understanding of Cost Accounting principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of articulating and quantifying the effects of different decisions and scenarios on business operations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adept at establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with personnel at all levels, both within and outside the Laboratory.
- Ability to independently research, interpret, analyze, and compile data, presenting findings effectively.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines, including working outside of regular hours when necessary.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google applications.
