Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with various aspects of patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
  • Ensure patient satisfaction by providing a high level of care and attention to detail.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with walking, transfers, and other tasks as needed.
  • Collect patient information/history, take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
  • Relay instructions to patients/families and ensure they understand their care plan.
  • Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and other relevant information.
  • Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
  • Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam/procedure rooms as needed.
  • Check schedules and organize patient flow to ensure efficient care.
  • Answer calls and provide pertinent information, including patient education as directed.
  • Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies, including OSHA, CLIA, and the PA Department of Health.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.
  • For Medical Assistant, Senior: successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) or successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) or at least 1 year of patient care experience required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
