Compensation Structure
Hourly Pay:
$49.65 for the 593.2 level
$59.49 for the 593.3 level

Position Overview
We are seeking a Computer Support Technician to deliver technical assistance for both unclassified and classified systems within a diverse environment. Your role will involve troubleshooting complex technical issues efficiently. Responsibilities include the installation, configuration, security, and maintenance of systems, as well as loading software and resolving system-related challenges. This role is part of the Information Technology Operations (ITO) Division.
This position necessitates full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
This role may be filled at either level based on the candidate's knowledge and experience as evaluated by the hiring team. Additional responsibilities may be assigned if hired at the higher level.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and upgrade computer hardware and systems.
- Set up and configure printers and other peripherals.
- Install and configure operating systems, security protocols, and application software.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) security mandates.
- Diagnose and resolve moderate complexity issues related to systems, printers, and networks.
- Provide technical support to users.
- Maintain training on technology, security, and safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities for 593.3 Level
- Conduct complex installations and configurations.
- Diagnose and resolve intricate system and network issues.
- Offer advanced technical support to users.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
- Associate's Degree in a computer-related field or equivalent technical training and experience.
- General knowledge of desktop and/or server hardware and operating systems (e.g., Mac OS and/or Windows OS).
- Experience in administering, troubleshooting, and repairing Apple and/or Windows systems.
- Strong customer support skills, including effective communication and rapport-building.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with Mac and/or Windows security protocols for user account management.
Preferred Qualifications for 593.3 Level
- Advanced knowledge of Mac and/or Windows operating systems and associated hardware.
- Experience in creating instructional materials for repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency.
- Significant experience in resolving complex system and network issues.

Security Clearance Requirements
This position necessitates a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. Selected candidates will undergo a Federal background investigation to assess eligibility for access to classified information. All cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.
