Profit Center Leader Job Description

Brown & Brown Insurance is seeking an experienced Profit Center Leader to join our team in Austin, TX.

The purpose of the PCL is to drive a culture of success through client retention, new business, efficient processes, and teammate engagement while maintaining positive operating margins.

The leader will serve as lead member of the Profit Center management team in the development and execution of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on broad corporate goals, acquisitions, strategic planning, and growth objectives.

The leader will also establish, maintain, and cultivate client, carrier, and enterprise-wide business partnerships.

The leader will recruit, develop, and retain top talent; and manage the overall profitability of the Profit Center through effective leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet top-line growth goals and budgeted operating margins.
  • Plan, develop, and direct the Profit Center's objectives through oversight of department leadership.
  • Responsible for the adherence of the organization's guidelines, policies, and applicable laws.
  • Perform duties of a Producer by actively participating in the sell and renewal of business.
  • Target and manage the development, production, promotion, and sale of the organization's products and services to meet customer and company goals, which will generate profit to meet planned objectives.
  • Evaluate and analyze the results of the programs and services regularly and use this information to identify and select best courses of action to implement toward objectives.
  • Assist teammates in client opportunities, maximizing carrier relationships and enterprise-wide resources.
  • Position the Profit Center favorably within the local business community through participation with and/or support of appropriate local professional and community service organizations.
  • Set the vision and competencies for each position of the profit center; recruit top talent through networking and professional relationships; retain and develop leadership and direct reports.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and implement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork, mutual respect, and foster a culture that instills a 'can-do' attitude in teammates.
  • Pursue a program of personal and professional development.
Requirements:
  • Years of leadership experience in a similar role/insurance industry experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Active TX Insurance License.
  • Full and complete knowledge of insurance products and usages.
  • Ability to prepare and monitor budgets, commissions, costs, income, and other related accounting concepts to practical solutions.
  • Ability to initiate and foster rapport with internal and external business partners, as well as prospects and clients.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, remaining calm and courteous in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information to employees, top management, customers, clients, public groups, and/or board of directors.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Entrepreneurial and driven individual.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with others, to explain complex issues, to receive and interpret complex information, and to respond appropriately.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and a proactive work ethic.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • This position may require routine or periodic travel, which may require the teammate to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle. If required, acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are requirements of this position.
