Cardiac Echocardiographer Job Description

Catholic Health Service is seeking a skilled Cardiac Echocardiographer to join our team. As an integral part of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing M-Mode and Cardiac Doppler echocardiogram studies and conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of data.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide clear explanations to patients regarding the test being performed.
  • Utilize two identifiers (Name and Date of Birth) to accurately identify patients.
  • Prepare patients for echocardiogram procedures.
  • Perform transthoracic echocardiographic examinations to determine the most effective modalities, techniques, and approaches.
  • Evaluate echocardiographic findings, recognizing normal and complex congenital and pathologic conditions to obtain adequate diagnostic data for physician interpretation.
  • Calculate echocardiograph/Doppler data obtained from examinations, including M Mode quantification, ejection fraction, Doppler calculation of valve gradients, and Doppler quantification of inefficiency degrees.
  • Request MD and RN administration of echo contrast when necessary.
  • Maintain current educational status, including review of education tapes and conferences, and CE credits.
  • Mentor with assigned physician preceptor to enhance clinical skills.
  • Enter data into clinical systems and transmit data.
  • Maintain, clean, and fully equipped and stocked examination areas for patients.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound program.
  • ARDMS certification preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with patients.
  • Ability to stand, lift, push, and pull when necessary.
