Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Production Editor to join our team at Insight Editions. As a key member of our editorial department, you will be responsible for the production process of 25-35 active titles, working closely with the managing editorial and acquisitions teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a list of 25-35 active titles, ensuring timely and accurate production
  • Collaborate with freelancers for copyediting, proofreading, indexing, and packagers
  • Style manuscripts and route transmittals to the design department for layout
  • Collate edits for design and check implementation
  • Proofread jacket and case copy, and tipsheet copy, as needed
  • Run final reviews on cover and layout files before prepress and at ozalids
  • Review ebooks prior to publication
  • Process and approve freelancer invoices
  • Assist managing editorial department with evaluating new freelancers and packagers
  • Maintain and update style guides for our most popular formats and licenses
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in English or related field
  • 2 years in production (or managing) editorial at a Trade publishing house
  • Excellent copyediting, proofreading, and project management skills
  • Strong knowledge, and love of, the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam Webster
  • Ability to prioritize across multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Highly motivated, productive, and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Experience working on highly designed, full-color lifestyle books and diverse formats, including stationery, book-plus, pop ups, and oracle decks, a plus
  • Experience working quickly and diplomatically with authors to resolve queries, a plus
