Position Summary:
ARC is in search of a detail-oriented and cooperative individual to fill the role of Research Analyst specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This position is pivotal in supporting the Research and Evaluation Division by engaging in various data-related tasks, GIS mapping, and research initiatives aligned with ARC's Strategic Plan. Responsibilities include the collection, management, analysis, visualization, and dissemination of geographic data through maps, databases, and comprehensive reports. The Research and Evaluation team conducts both internal and external analyses to portray socioeconomic conditions in Appalachia, assess economic development trends, identify areas of need, and evaluate the impact of ARC's programmatic investments. This critical information informs policy documents, workshops, press releases, research publications, evaluation studies, and digital content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proficiency in research methodologies and quantitative analysis, along with a solid understanding of statistics and social sciences (economics, geography, sociology, etc.).
- Exhibit expertise in GIS mapping software and data processing techniques for effective geographic information design and production.
- Present complex analyses and findings to team members, management, and external partners using data visualizations (charts, tables, graphs) across various software platforms.
- Utilize advanced research tools to enhance efficiency in reporting, GIS mapping, and analytical processes.
- Manage projects effectively, ensuring adherence to timelines and deliverables.
- Core competencies include accountability, adaptability, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.
- Thrive in a team-oriented environment, bringing a dynamic and innovative approach to work.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in geography, economics, regional planning, computer science, or a related field.
- Have 1-3 years of relevant professional experience.
