As part of a strategic initiative aimed at a transformative enhancement of the faculty within the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Sociology at Johns Hopkins University is preparing for substantial growth in the forthcoming years.
In the initial phase, we are particularly interested in candidates specializing in the sociology of race and ethnicity as well as the sociology of gender.
We anticipate making at least these two appointments, with additional opportunities likely to arise soon thereafter.Qualifications: Successful candidates will demonstrate a robust record of empirical research and will become part of a dynamic and vibrant Department of Sociology within a School and University that promotes a wide array of interdisciplinary discussions and collaborations, particularly in the areas of gender, race, racism, and anti-racism.
Experience in research, teaching, and professional service should align with expectations typical of a research-intensive University that is committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.
Applicants for the Assistant Professor level should possess a record of published scholarship and are expected to have completed their Ph.D. prior to the effective date of the appointment.
Applicants at the Associate and Full Professor levels should have a proven track record in research, teaching, and service that is commensurate with the responsibilities of these ranks.

Those applying for the Assistant Professor level should include three letters of recommendation; however, applicants for the Associate and Full Professor levels are not required to submit letters at this stage.
