Scientist | Biochemist

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Scientist to join our team at Abilita Therapeutics, Inc. in San Diego. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and troubleshooting complex purification strategies for recombinant membrane and soluble proteins.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, execution, and troubleshooting of complex purification strategies for recombinant membrane and soluble proteins.
• Independently perform biophysical characterization of purified proteins using multiple methods and instruments.
• Refine and optimize purification protocols, while addressing challenges that arise.
• Independently design and execute DNA cloning, transformation of various microorganisms.
• Ability to work in a highly interactive and multidisciplinary team environment.
• Operate and maintain the relevant equipment.
• Manage parallel processing of extensive sample sets.
• Support the organization by producing high-quality and reliable data.
• Maintain close collaborative interactions with colleagues within the research group, and regularly communicate progress to the team or supervisors.

Requirements:

• PhD degree in biochemistry, structural biology, or molecular biology.
• At least 10 years hands-on experience in protein purification and molecular biology in combined academic + industry setting.
• Prior experience with cryo-EM and membrane proteins purification such as GPCRs, ion channels, or transporters is strongly preferred.
• Experience with protein purification/analysis methods such as SEC, IMAC, ion exchange chromatography, dialysis, SDS-PAGE is required.
• Proficiency with basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, restriction enzymes and/or ligation-independent methods) as well as more advanced methods like Golden gate, Gibson cloning.
