GENERAL SUMMARY


Under the guidance of the custodial supervisor, this role is responsible for delivering comprehensive cleaning services to ensure a hygienic and safe atmosphere within and surrounding county facilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform essential cleaning tasks to uphold a sanitary environment in county-owned properties.

Specific duties include:

- Cleaning mirrors, doors, and glass surfaces

- Dusting and polishing all furnishings, including telephones, calculators, desk lamps, and partitions

- Sweeping and mopping floors on a daily basis; vacuuming all carpeted areas each day

- Emptying waste receptacles and replacing liners as necessary, along with washing them when required

- Dusting and cleaning all books, shelves, and bookcases

- Disinfecting door handles and telephones

Maintain restroom cleanliness, which includes:

- Replenishing tissues, paper towels, and sanitary supplies as needed

- Refilling soap dispensers as necessary

- Cleaning all fixtures, mirrors, and partitions, emptying waste receptacles and replacing liners

- Sweeping and mopping floors

- Cleaning walls

- Disinfecting door handles and latches


Accountable for performing custodial tasks at all other county-owned properties under the jurisdiction of the Lucas County Commissioners.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Familiarity with departmental policies and procedures; safety protocols; equipment, cleaning agents, and materials utilized in custodial operations; effective cleaning techniques.

Proficient in operating both manual and powered cleaning equipment.

Ability to perform basic arithmetic; read signage and labels; communicate effectively with supervisors; follow both verbal and written instructions; engage in light physical labor, lifting items up to 30lbs.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A combination of education, skills, or experience that meets the employer's standards.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS

The incumbent may encounter cleaning chemicals and fumes. Additionally, there may be occasions of working in less-than-ideal sanitary conditions.
