Overview

Counseling Specialist

Position Summary:

Under the general oversight of the Program Director, the Counseling Specialist delivers therapeutic services to a designated caseload, engaging with Agency clients and their families in various settings, including home and community environments. This role involves providing individual, family, and group counseling sessions, establishing treatment objectives, and fostering positive relationships while serving as a supportive role model and mentor.


Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Team Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:
(1.) Deliver therapeutic treatment and crisis intervention for assigned clients and/or families in home, office, and community settings as dictated by specific program requirements.

(2.) Recognize and respond appropriately to both the overt and subtle aspects of the client’s feedback, offering support and insights regarding their therapeutic needs.

(3.) Identify the needs or challenges of assigned clients and establish treatment goals.

(4.) Determine suitable intervention strategies tailored to individual clients and implement these plans effectively.

(5.) Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions based on program-specific requirements and adjust treatment plans as necessary.

(6.) Assess clients for suitability for group therapy and the type of group intervention needed. Facilitate treatment groups that address issues pertinent to the group's objectives using established methods, which may include both directive and non-directive discussions, role-playing, educational techniques, and expressive therapies.

(7.) Attend, schedule, and engage in meetings and conferences related to each assigned case, including necessary legal and agency meetings.

(8.) Participate in all required meetings and training sessions.

(9.) Ensure the accurate, professional, and timely completion of all necessary documentation, including reports, logs, and notes as mandated by program-specific procedures.

(10.) Complete all Agency-required documentation and filings in a timely and professional manner.

(11.) Assist in the internal training of staff and/or foster parents.

(12.) Perform additional Agency-related duties as assigned.

(2.) Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with Agency staff, clients, visitors, and the public.

(3.) Actively engage in training, staff meetings, and Agency activities as required.

(4.) Participate in special projects or additional assignments as needed.

(5.) Adhere to the Agency's Employment Policies & Procedures and Standards of Conduct.

(6.) Maintain confidentiality regarding all Agency matters and refrain from discussing any employee, client, financial, or administrative issues except as necessary for job performance.
