We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Environmental Services Assistant to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our Environmental Services Department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service through interaction with patients, visitors, and staff, responding to requests in a timely manner.
- Clean all assigned areas using department-approved methods and practices, ensuring a high level of quality and attention to detail.
- Stock areas with paper goods, soaps, and patient supplies as needed, maintaining a well-stocked and organized environment.
- Respond to emergency calls as directed by supervisor and department policy, demonstrating a commitment to safety and emergency preparedness.
- Attend all required staff meetings and complete all required training, staying up-to-date on departmental policies and procedures.
- Stock linens on exchange carts and deliver carts to patient units, ensuring a smooth and efficient linen distribution process.
- Operate and maintain all powered and non-powered equipment assigned for daily cleaning, adhering to manufacturer instructions and departmental guidelines.
- Use the phone system to operate pagers and integrated software programs, demonstrating proficiency in technology and communication tools.
- Complete meeting setups as directed by supervisor, ensuring a well-prepared and organized environment for meetings and events.
- Collect and dispose of red and regular trash according to department and hospital guidelines, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self-development, as outlined in performance reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Customer service experience or ability required; cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to speak and understand English.
Environmental Services experience, particularly in a healthcare setting, is highly valued. The ability to follow simple instructions and a spirit of teamwork are essential for success in this role.
