Role Overview:
Gannett Fleming is seeking a Lead Transportation Engineer to join our dynamic Civil/Highway Engineering Practice. This position will play a pivotal role in managing roadway and transportation initiatives.
As an integral member of our Transportation Group, the selected candidate will oversee the execution of transportation projects, ensuring compliance with state regulations and standards.
The primary responsibilities will include managing highway and multi-disciplinary transportation design projects, utilizing both traditional and innovative delivery methods.
Key skills required for this role include effective time management, analytical capabilities, and strong interpersonal communication. The ideal candidate will possess a professional demeanor and demonstrate solid decision-making, planning, and organizational abilities.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee project scopes, timelines, and budgets within the transportation division.
- Ensure successful project delivery and maintain client relationships.
- Supervise the roadway design team on assigned engineering projects.
- Develop project scopes, negotiate hours, control costs, and manage project staff.
- Plan, develop, and coordinate civil engineering projects to meet established goals within budget and time constraints.
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of transportation projects, including roadway design, drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control.
- Facilitate design activities and meetings among project design staff, subconsultants, and clients.
- Conduct reviews in accordance with Gannett Fleming's Quality Management System.
- Assist in proposal development and participate in relevant presentations.
- Engage actively in professional organizations.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 10-20 years of progressive experience in the design and management of highway and roadway transportation projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania; additional state licenses are advantageous.
- Proven experience in managing design teams on complex transportation projects.
- Familiarity with PennDOT's design software and standards.
- Strong public speaking and communication skills.
