We are seeking a highly skilled Submarine Systems Engineer to join our team at Serco North America. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing systems engineering requirements and developing technical strategies to maintain and improve submarine system performance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and review operational and technical written documentation, including Performance Monitoring Program (PMP) Operations manuals, Planned Maintenance System (PMS) procedures, and System Health reports.
- Review engineering drawings and provide recommendations.
- Develop analytical and technical input needed to evaluate documentation and development of briefs to ensure accurate, timely, and essential information is provided to decision makers.
- Influence other NAVSEA codes and Program Offices, Submarine Force Commanders, equipment manufacturers, engineering service contractors, Naval Warfare Centers, Supervisors of Shipbuilding, and Performance Monitoring Teams (PMT) for maintenance of ship systems and technical issues.
- Prepare Unclassified and Classified briefs for audiences up to and including the Flag level.
- Participate and/or coordinate specified Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Execute Ship Design Manager and Engineering Manager's Technical Authority for all in-service submarine classes.
- Provide engineering oversight of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) engineering practices.
- Resolution of technical problems through expert knowledge of submarine systems design, operations, logistics support practices, and sound technical judgement.
- Ensure appropriate systems engineering processes are properly applied during systems life cycle sustainment.
- Plan, manage, and coordinate various engineering development programs/projects which involve continuous systems monitoring, evaluation, modification, and analysis of other pertinent factors affecting system performance.
- Keep abreast of latest engineering technological advances as well as state of the art applications pertinent to the development of new products or theories within various engineering fields.
- Set high personal standards for performance/conduct.
- Demonstrate ability to be a team player; work well with others; contribute positively to work/team environment while continually seeking ways to enhance contribution to the team.
- An active or current DoD Secret clearance which is required at time of application; an interim Secret clearance is acceptable.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in Electrical Engineering or other engineering disciplines). Work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Five plus years work experience or more within the DoD and/or the Armed Services.
- Intermediate level skillset in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The ability to work both in a team environment and independently, and often under short, multiple deadlines.
- The ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Work experience in the Navy and specifically within Team Submarine or submarines in general.
- Experience as Submarine Electrician Mate and Engineering Watch Supervisor is a plus.
