Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a proficient and driven Quality Engineer to support the Quality Manager in executing Quality Control and Assurance protocols across the organization. This role encompasses the development, implementation, and management of quality programs, alongside training and guiding personnel to facilitate necessary organizational changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director/VP of Quality in establishing and maintaining the company’s quality management system in alignment with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 for Automotive, ISO 13485 for Medical, and other relevant specifications. Ensure compliance with additional customer-specific requirements and act as the primary liaison with external stakeholders regarding the quality system.
  • Serve as an Internal Lead Auditor, spearheading the Internal Audit program, coordinating corrective actions, and participating in supplier, customer, and registrar audits.
  • Compile and analyze various reports for the Company and Quality Department, focusing on quality and business performance metrics, including internal and customer corrective action databases. Maintain the company’s document control system.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling to develop Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), Process Flow Charts, and Inspection Control Plans, ensuring quality requirements are clear and achievable.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications related to geometric tolerancing, gauging, and statistical requirements.
  • Design and develop inspection plans and methodologies, including fixture and gauge design, and program Vision/CMM systems.
  • Engage with customers, sales, and engineering teams to address quality concerns and assist in the analysis of customer complaints as part of an 8D analysis team.
  • Provide training to inspectors on methodologies, statistics, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Vision Systems, and CMMs.
  • Conduct first piece, in-process, and final inspections of complex production tooling as required, and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Quality Control/Assurance within a precision-driven industry, particularly with automotive and medical clients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to individuals with varying levels of expertise.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality requirements in the automotive and medical sectors, including FMEA, Process Flows, Control Plans, and system specifications.
  • Familiarity with Military Specifications such as MIL-STD-45208A, MIL-STD-45662, MIL-Q-9858A, and ISO standards including ISO 9000, ISO/TS 16949, and ISO 13485.
  • Knowledge of principles related to metals or resins for incoming inspection.
  • Proficient in blueprint interpretation, GD&T, and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to learn and utilize various software tools for measurement systems, including Vision and CMM, as well as data collection and statistical analysis software.
