ROLE SUMMARY

As a Sales Associate, you will serve as the friendly face of Tandy Leather, responsible for welcoming and assisting customers both in-store and via phone. Your contribution is vital in upholding the store's overall ambiance and delivering outstanding customer service. We are looking for enthusiastic, approachable, and diligent individuals who have a passion for retail and crafting, along with a desire to educate others in the art of leathercrafting. Previous sales experience is advantageous but not essential. Bring your positive attitude and vibrant personality to our team

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Interaction and Sales

  • Warmly greet customers in person and over the phone, showcasing excellent customer service in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Assist customers in product selection, answer inquiries, share product knowledge, and recommend Tandy products.
  • Utilize active listening to comprehend customer needs, provide helpful suggestions, and strive to finalize sales.
  • Notify customers when orders are ready for pickup or provide status updates, ensuring they receive their receipts and items.

Store Management

  • Accurately process transactions and returns using the POS system and internal systems.
  • Assist with receiving and stocking merchandise while maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Adhere to opening and closing procedures, prepare displays/signage, and ensure a tidy, organized retail environment.
  • Create or update customer profile records.
  • Alert management to potential security concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support store operations.

Product Knowledge and Leathercrafting

  • Understand product attributes, differentiate between products/features, and demonstrate product functions to customers.
  • Show eagerness to learn and teach classes to customers, enhancing their knowledge and skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Driven by a commitment to exceptional customer service and motivated to achieve retail sales.
  • Personable and capable of engaging with a diverse range of customers.
  • A collaborative team player who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic environment, shifting between multitasking and focused tasks as necessary.
  • Willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Physical ability to remain on the sales floor for extended periods, handle merchandise, and perform all job functions.
  • Committed to adhering to all company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Engaging in stooping, kneeling, and crouching activities.
  • Climbing ladders and reaching for items above eye level.
  • Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
