MetroWest Medical Center is seeking a skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our team. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, comprehensive care to adult, adolescent, and child patients.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Charge Nurse to plan and implement milieu treatment, considering patient needs and therapeutic goals.
- Ensure quality and safe delivery of care to patients of all ages.
- Function as a milieu therapist to assigned patients, including administering initial psychological assessments and providing individual counseling focused on treatment goals.
- Participate in milieu therapy for patients on an individual or group basis, incorporating knowledge of each patient's condition and application of various therapeutic techniques.
- Collaborate with other unit staff in assessing and evaluating patient's mental status, initiating and maintaining a therapeutic relationship with patients, and coordinating and implementing various aspects of milieu environment.
- Provide supportive care to patients, including participating in conversation, recreational activities, and basic living activities, and setting limits, confronting counterproductive activities and behavior, and reassuring and orienting patients.
- Record all appropriate information on patient charts and prepare regular reports describing each patient's mental status and functioning.
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology or a related field preferred.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English).
- BLS required.
- Patient care environment with periodic risk from combative or abusive patients.
- Regular walking and standing during normal course of duties.
