Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Tankerman to join our team at Centerline Logistics. As a Tankerman, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transfer of petroleum products between barges, ships, and facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor product level in tanks and operate diesel engines, cargo pumps, tank/pipeline valves, and manual and hydraulic booms.
- Adjust and secure barge lines, communicate with foreign crews and oil facility personnel, and inspect vessels for Coast Guard and state regulatory compliance.
- Use air purifying respirators, SCBA, air monitoring equipment, hearing protection, VHF radios, hand tools, tow lines, high-level alarms, and thermometers.
- Operate cargo gear, gate valves, and butterfly valves, and check oil and water in equipment before use.
- Perform general barge maintenance and cleanliness, hydrostatic testing of cargo hoses and piping, and splice barge lines and boom running gear.
- Previous experience as a tank barge PIC on oil barges is required, along with valid CPR/First Aid/AED training and certification.
- Valid HAZWOPER 24-hour training and current certification are also required.
- Knowledge of Coast Guard and state requirements for transfer operations is essential.
- Ability to think and respond quickly to emergency situations, possess good communication skills, and be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Must be able to read, speak, and understand English over the telephone and/or radio.
Requirements:
- Must have physical ability to maneuver cargo hoses, handle barge lines, and board vessels using an Accommodation ladder, Jacob's ladder, or tugboat.
- Exposure to all weather conditions, including rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, and heavy seas.
- Able to work weekends, holidays, and at night.
