About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Mediko Inc. as a Medical Specialist for Correctional Facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain detailed medical histories and perform thorough physical examinations on assigned patients.
  • Assess and treat acute and chronic medical problems, providing direct patient care in a correctional setting.
  • Write appropriate medical orders, including those for controlled substances, and perform emergency procedures as needed.
  • Notify supervising physicians of any unusual or unexpected events requiring direct consultation.
  • Practice safety and infection control methods, and supervise patient care and support staff within the clinic.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide health education to patients and respond to requests from security staff and Mediko Inc. personnel.
  • Participate in on-call services as assigned by the facility and/or company needs.
Requirements
  • Active state certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (ARNP/APRN/CNS or equivalent) in a primary care discipline.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Active CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guidelines approved).
