The Transport Security Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for staff, inmates, and the public, under direct supervision and in accordance with established standards. This role involves enforcing laws and departmental regulations related to detention and corrections.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist arresting officers with residents; manage the storage and release of residents' property while maintaining accurate records.
2. Coordinate arrangements for residents' court appearances.
3. Maintain order by applying appropriate use of force and reporting any unusual conditions, policy violations, disturbances, or potential disorder to superiors.
4. Patrol designated areas of the facility; control traffic to and from assigned areas; ensure security and inspect facilities to maintain safety; conduct periodic counts of residents in all detention levels and work details.
5. Provide emergency first aid as necessary; refer residents to medical and psychiatric services as needed.
6. Participate in fire and safety drills and respond to emergency situations.
7. Maintain logs and prepare reports as required by supervisors.
8. Adhere to the Department Code of Ethics.
9. Apply mechanical restraints when necessary.
10. Supervise and escort inmates to court hearings.
11. Respond to public inquiries courteously; provide information relevant to the assignment; resolve complaints efficiently.
12. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.

Additional Requirements:
Compliance with the following is required for this position:
1. Successful completion of a post-offer medical examination and background investigation.
2. Adherence to the County's safety guidelines.
3. Possession of a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:
1. Shift work is required.
2. Most duties are performed indoors in a controlled environment, with occasional outdoor responsibilities.
3. Exposure to various environmental conditions may occur.
4. Duties may involve high-stress situations and operation of a vehicle.

Equipment and Tools:
1. Administrative duties typically involve the use of telephones, computers, and other office equipment.
2. Security and restraint equipment may be utilized as necessary.
3. First aid and safety equipment are used as needed.

Supplemental Information:
1. One year of experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field is preferred.
