Summary: The role involves training dogs as part of New York Dogworks Inc's group classes, individual tutoring, and enrichment services. The organization operates year-round, and employees are expected to work during weekends and evenings in various weather conditions. Approximately 50% of the time will be spent leading group classes or training individual dogs, while 20% will involve administrative tasks such as managing enrollments, scheduling, processing payments, and reporting. The remaining 30% will focus on maintaining cleanliness in training areas and interacting with clients to promote additional services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing science-based training techniques to enhance the lives of dogs and their families.
  • Staying informed on the latest developments in dog behavior and training through continuous education.

  • Conducting training sessions for dogs in both individual and group formats.

Qualifications: To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Education and Experience: Preferred candidates will have certifications in pet dog training such as CPDT or KPA, along with prior experience in a professional dog training environment. Attendance at training sessions outside of regular hours may be required.

Physical Requirements: The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in varying outdoor conditions.

Health Requirements: Employees must be current on their Tetanus vaccination.

Language Skills: Proficiency in reading and communicating dog-related information is essential.

Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Windows-based applications is beneficial.

Reasoning Skills: The ability to analyze problems and respond to emergencies effectively is crucial, especially when managing behavioral challenges during training sessions.
