Job Title: Patient Care Assistant

Metro Infectious Disease Consultants is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Patient Care Assistant to join our team.

This is a full-time position that requires a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of clinical practice experience and be comfortable with back-office responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Escort patients from reception to exam rooms, documenting height, weight, blood pressure, and temperature as indicated.
  • Stock exam rooms with supplies each morning and clean rooms between patients.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and complete requisitions in a timely manner.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Front Office Responsibilities:
  • Filing of all scanned paperwork daily.
  • Fax clinic schedules to physicians for the next clinic day.
  • Prepare travel charts weekly.
  • Open and distribute mail daily.
  • Print schedules for the following clinic day and verify that all progress notes and super-bills are attached.
  • Order office supplies.
  • Answer telephone calls, including closed offices at different locations.
  • Page on consultations to physicians, including consult, hospital, patient name, room number, referring physician, and hospital phone number with extension.
  • Make appointments for new and existing patients according to set guidelines.
  • Handle and process billing information daily.
  • Handle and process dictation, letters, and physician orders daily.
  • Register patients, enter and/or update patient demographics, and make copies of vital information.
  • Collect co-payments and past due balances from patients at check-in/check-out desks.
  • Coordinate and process referral information for managed care patients.
  • Process medical records requests.
  • Escort patients from reception to exam rooms, documenting height, weight, blood pressure, and temperature as indicated.
  • Obtain laboratory specimens as requested, completing lab requisitions and preparing samples for pick-up by lab.
  • Ensure superbills are completed at visit end, including visit code, diagnoses, and all labs ordered.
Requirements:
  • At least one year of clinical practice experience, preferably in an office setting.
  • Comfortable with back-office responsibilities.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients.
