Job Summary

The VCS Middle School Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic and spiritual potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that align with established procedures.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Utilize relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student work.
  • Encourage and monitor student progress, using information to adjust teaching techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare the classroom for class activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information from parents when requested, and promptly respond to inquiries.
  • Participate in professional development and activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Oklahoma State certification in Education Instruction relative to the department and grade desired.
  • Maintains a mature Christian lifestyle consistent with the teachings of the Church.
  • Native English speaker or the capacity to successfully pass a TOEFL Exam with instructional proficiency.
  • Good communication, problem-solving, and priority-setting skills, as well as a positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and implement educational activities.
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
Physical Demands

  • Sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, stooping, walking, and the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
  • Manual dexterity with the use of hands, fingers to feel objects, tools, and controls;
  • Sighted with color, peripheral, near, and far vision;
  • Hearing and speaking;
  • Excellent English communication skills.
