Recreation Therapist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Therapist to join our team at the Ohio Department of Commerce. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, and implementing recreational activities for inmates, as well as serving as a member of an interdisciplinary team to analyze, assess, and evaluate treatment goals and activities.

• Plan, conduct, and implement recreational activities for inmates, including sports, arts and crafts, and other leisure activities.
• Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team to analyze, assess, and evaluate treatment goals and activities.
• Observe participants during activities and provide feedback to the treatment team.
• Prepare and maintain work-related documentation, including reports and statistical records.
• Perform security functions as required, including man-down and shakedown procedures.
• Participate in meetings, conferences, and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.

• Completion of an associate degree in recreational therapy or a related field.
• At least 24 months of experience in activity therapy or recreation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with inmates, staff, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
