OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
This role demands high energy, significant multitasking, and exceptional communication skills across all business facets.
The Project Manager will oversee project planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, which includes gathering and prioritizing project and customer requirements, defining the project vision, and collaborating closely with engineering, sales, operations, assembly, testing, and other support areas to meet revenue and customer satisfaction objectives.
The Project Manager's responsibilities also encompass ensuring alignment with the company's overall strategy and goals. Below is a summary of the Project Manager's key responsibilities.The Project Manager will:
- Engage collaboratively with Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, partners, and customers
- Uphold honesty and integrity while serving as an empowered project leader
- Manage multiple concurrent projects effectively, even in challenging situations
- Maintain a customer-centric approach, which is vital to our company
- Drive schedules and successfully complete tasks on time and within budget while fostering positive relationships
- Earn respect from both the organization and customers, motivating teams towards shared objectives.
DESIGN AND ENGINEERING
The Project Manager serves as the liaison for customer contract and specification requirements to the design team.
A thorough initial review and verification of all technical and contractual requirements are essential to ensure proper communication with the design group, along with periodic compliance reviews.
This process is a critical component of our gated approach.Typical projects necessitate timely and accurate reporting to customers regarding design status, submission of analysis reports, and percent completion, all of which are communicated by the Project Manager.
Most projects involve design reviews with customer participation, where the Project Manager will lead the coordination, completion, preparation, assignment, and presentation of these meetings, developing cohesive presentation materials from assigned support personnel.The Project Manager typically facilitates design reviews (Proposal, Kick-off Meetings, SRR, PDR, CDR, TIMs, TRR, PRR, etc.) with various disciplines providing support and presenting their materials.
PRODUCTION AND SUBCONTRACTORS
The Project Manager will need to:
- Collaborate with the Operations Group to ensure customer contract and statement of work requirements are integrated into existing procedures
- Schedule and participate in activities such as internal design reviews, Production Readiness Reviews, Testing, Qualification, and coordination of customer visits
- Interact with major subcontractors for design portions similarly to internal design and production teams
- Flow down contract requirements and specifications, verifying compliance during design reviews.
These relationships are crucial for project success, and typically the major subcontractor is known to our customers and participates in design reviews, presenting their own materials.
CUSTOMERS
The Project Manager represents the company to customers from the proposal phase through the delivery of the first qualified flight unit.
- The Project Manager will track and ensure timely execution of all contract deliverables generated internally and by major subcontractors
- The Project Manager should excel in interpersonal skills, thriving in the responsibility of being the face of the company to our key clients
- Will serve as an important internal resource and may be called upon for special internal projects as well
- Travel may be required to meet with customers
SALES AND MARKETING
The Project Manager will:
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to complete proposals, secure new business, negotiate contracts, and enhance our internal revenue streams
- Be expected to possess extensive knowledge and expertise in our industry and a detailed understanding of our competitive landscape
- Aim to grow sales within existing accounts and focus on upselling during application execution
GENERAL
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a Project Management expert with both analytical and intuitive skills, capable of delving into all project aspects and collaborating with customers, suppliers, and technical staff
- Formulate and execute specific plans and strategies while understanding their implications on schedule and profitability
- Exhibit sharp focus and excellent multi-disciplinary communication skills
OTHER SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Align multi-discipline teams, including engineering, sales, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers
- Be responsible for the complete product cycle for each application
- Be prepared to support internal projects, including capital equipment, research and development, and integration of new product lines
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. in Engineering or a non-technical degree with equivalent experience
- Proven leadership skills through example, mentoring, and managing multifaceted teams
- Demonstrated success in interacting with Sales, Engineering, Product Development, and Contracts
- Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read drawings and understand multi-level BOMs
- Must be versatile and able to multitask in a low-volume, high-mix environment typical of military, aerospace, and space companies.
- U.S. Citizen, no dual citizenship allowed
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- 7 years of Project Management or equivalent experience in aerospace-based projects
- Detailed understanding of AS9100 requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of ITAR and Import/Export Compliance
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Project, Project Planning, and Estimate to Complete
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Knowledge and experience in cross-cultural/international sales
- Extensive skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel
