Speech and Language Therapist

Charlotte County Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating students with speech and language disorders. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate students suspected of having speech and/or language disorders
Provide therapy services to eligible students as indicated in their IEPs
Conduct speech and language screenings on kindergarten students and other school-age students as needed
Interpret results of speech and language evaluations to parents and staff
Participate in eligibility staffing committees and IEP team meetings
Maintain progress data on enrolled students and communicate with parents
Conduct re-evaluations as required by state or district guidelines and/or IEP team requests
Recommend dismissal of students from the speech and language program when appropriate
Assist with transition of students from one level of school to another
Provide follow-up hearing screenings as requested
Adhere to federal and state regulations and district programs and procedures
Keep records as required by federal and state regulations
Requirements:
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or other areas accepted by DOE for Florida certification
Eligibility for Florida teaching certificate in Speech-Language Impaired (Grades K-12) or licensed through the Florida Department of Health as a Speech-Language Pathologist (ASHA)
School-based experience or pediatric experience in non-school based settings preferred
