Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in various accounting functions, including:

  • Overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting, payroll processing, and maintaining fixed asset records.
  • Preparing accurate monthly financial statements, ensuring alignment with budgetary expectations and prior performance.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop precise financial budgets and forecasts.
  • Reviewing financial reports with internal stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Conducting financial analyses as requested by management.
  • Generating weekly cash flow and key performance indicator reports.
  • Managing month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Evaluating construction project budgets, analyzing discrepancies, and reporting on profitability.
  • Responding to external audit inquiries promptly and effectively.
  • Assisting in the establishment of financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of two years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting.
  • At least one year of experience in cost accounting or project accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • CPA certification.
  • Experience with a reputable public accounting firm.
  • Background in construction accounting, including percentage-of-completion methods.
  • Familiarity with Sage 100 Contractor, ServiceTrade, and Procore is advantageous.

Compensation: $80,000 - $120,000

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including using hands for manipulation, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision capabilities must include close and distance vision, as well as depth perception.
