We cater to various organizations, including educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and individual clients in need of transportation.

Role Summary: As a Wheelchair/Stretcher Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mobility challenges. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate a safe and comfortable travel experience for clients who are wheelchair or stretcher-bound. You will assist in boarding, securing, and disembarking passengers from specially equipped vehicles, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of passengers.
  • Ensure that wheelchairs and stretchers are securely fastened using 4-point tie-downs.
  • Help passengers with seatbelts and other safety devices to guarantee their safety.
  • Provide information about schedules, stops, and routes as needed.
  • Address special requests and support passengers requiring additional assistance.
  • Monitor passenger behavior to ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Respond to emergencies and unexpected situations according to established protocols.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing passenger inquiries and concerns courteously.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment for passenger assistance is available and functioning properly.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance job-specific skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve the overall passenger experience.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a clean criminal record and pass a drug screening.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in customer service or a similar role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety and emergency procedures is beneficial.
  • First Aid, AED, and CPR certification is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to assist passengers with care and efficiency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 150 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Patience and empathy towards individuals with physical and mental disabilities.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Physical capability to bend, lift, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow instructions.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

Working Conditions:

This position involves being a passenger in a moving vehicle for the majority of the time. While the vehicle offers some protection from the elements, exposure to various weather conditions, including wind, rain, snow, and high heat, is common. Additionally, exposure to bodily fluids may occur.
