Primary Care Physician

UnitedHealthcare is seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician to join our team in Louisiana. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and assessments in the ambulatory health care center setting.
Responsibilities- Assist in the development of the plan of care and provide patient/family/significant other counseling and education.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies.
- Order medication and treatments.
- Refer patients for consultation when indicated.
- Document progress notes and summaries.
- Participate in patient care rounds and conferences.
- Communicate patient management strategies to the patient care team.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient management strategies are successful.
- Recognize situations requiring immediate attention and initiate life-saving procedures when necessary.
- Critically analyze data and evidence to improve clinical practice.
- Integrate knowledge from the humanities and sciences.
- Translate research and other forms of knowledge to improve practice processes and outcomes.
- Develop new practice approaches based on the integration of research, theory, and practice knowledge.
- Assume complex and advanced leadership roles to initiate and guide change.
- Provide leadership to foster collaboration with multiple stakeholders to improve healthcare.
- Demonstrate leadership that uses critical and reflective thinking.
- Advocate for improved access, quality, and cost-effective healthcare.
- Advance practice through the development and implementation of innovations incorporating principles of change.
- Communicate practice knowledge effectively both orally and in writing.
- Participate in professional organizations and activities that influence health outcomes of a population focus.
- Use best available evidence to continuously improve quality of clinical practice.
- Evaluate the relationships among quality, safety, access, and cost and their influence on healthcare.
- Evaluate how organizational structure, care processes, financing, marketing, and policy decisions impact the quality of healthcare.
- Apply skills in peer review to promote a culture of excellence.
- Anticipate variations in practice and be proactive in implementing interventions to ensure quality.

- Use technology systems, with ongoing learning and updates, which capture data on variables for the evaluation of primary care.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the interdependence of policy and practice.
- Advocate for ethical policies that promote access, equity, quality, and cost.
- Analyze ethical, legal, and social factors influencing policy development.
- Contribute to the development of health policy.
- Analyze the implications of health policy across disciplines.
- Evaluate the impact of globalization on healthcare policy development.
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or M.B.B.S.
- Board certification or eligibility in Family or Internal Medicine.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in Louisiana.
- Valid DEA license.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- 1+ year clinical experience in geriatric, adult, or family practice setting.
