Critical Care Nurse Specialist

Mercy Health, a leading healthcare provider, is seeking an experienced Critical Care Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Stepdown Unit. As a critical care nurse specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job DescriptionThe Stepdown Registered Nurse delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifying and determining the priority of patient's problems/needs, and evaluating the process and outcome of nursing care, all in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The RN coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.
Key Responsibilities:- Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
- Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and procedures
- Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
- Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a current RN license in the state you are working or covered by compact, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and at least 1 year of RN experience, with 6 months experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is also preferred, as well as certifications like CCRN, PCCN, NIH Stroke Certification, and ACLS.

The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000 per year, based on location and experience.
