About the Role

Suffolk Construction is seeking a seasoned General Superintendent to lead our healthcare projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of complex construction projects, ensuring timely completion, and delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead field operations and execution for assigned projects, ensuring conformance with schedules, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Recruit, mentor, and train a high-performing team, ensuring effective talent management and succession planning.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to field staff on materials, sequencing, scheduling, personnel, and construction methods.
  • Advocate for field operations, driving business growth and development.
  • Participate in pre-construction services, including sales presentations, constructability reviews, and schedule development.
  • Oversee site access, staging, and sequencing plans, ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Manage field staff assignments, performance evaluations, and training, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site visits, evaluating conditions, safety, and project progress, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
  • Lead the development of baseline schedules, monitor project schedules, and provide leadership in the monthly update and narrative process.
  • Ensure workmanship and materials conform to plans and specifications, resolving issues promptly and creatively.
  • Participate in the one-year warranty walkthrough, ensuring timely completion of all issues and maintaining accurate records.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, with relevant experience in general contracting.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in construction, with a strong understanding of project management, leadership, and business development.
  • Applicable area licenses, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and handle competing priorities.
  • Strong business judgment, negotiation skills, and the ability to balance budget and construction processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, diplomatic and communication skills, and the ability to handle conflict effectively.
