We are seeking a skilled and experienced Industrial Nurse to join our team at National Beef Packing Co., LLC. This is a safety-sensitive position responsible for providing first aid, emergency care, and performing pre-employment physicals.
Compensation and BenefitsThe estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000-$80,000 based on industry standards in the Tama, Iowa area. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, 401K retirement plan with company match, paid vacation, and employee meat purchase sales.
Job ResponsibilitiesThis Industrial Nurse will be responsible for:
- Providing first aid and medical treatment as needed, assessing on-the-job injuries and illnesses, and referring for further evaluation when necessary;
- Conducting pre-employment physicals, including fitness for duty examinations, workers' compensation checks, and drug screens;
- Maintaining employee health records and preparing accident reports;
- Investigating accidents to determine common causes of injuries and illnesses;
- Communicating safety concerns to appropriate managers;
- Providing case management for all workers' compensation cases, from return-to-work to restricted duty and transitional work;
- Assisting the company doctor during weekly clinic hours;
- Maintaining first-aid kits and ordering medical supplies as needed;
- Safeguarding confidentiality of employee health information and health records;
- Conducting workplace assessments related to health issues and exposure follow-ups;
- Supporting the implementation of health promotion strategies through group and individual health education activities;
- Performing pre-employment and annual hearing testing.
To qualify for this role, you should possess:
- A current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN);
- At least 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in occupational health or emergency nursing;
- Knowledge of case management, workers' compensation, and OSHA regulations is preferred;
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively handle diverse situations and people;
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and high motivation;
- Capacity to work well under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines while maintaining focus;
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and HRIS systems;
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required;
- Familiarity with audiometric hearing testing and daily calibrations is a plus.
