MRI Technologist

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist will provide patient services by operating MRI equipment, applying principles of magnetic resonance imaging protection, and evaluating studies for technical quality. This role requires professional judgment in the performance of procedures and providing patient care essential to MRI procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate MRI equipment used in medical diagnosis and treatment, implementing infection control procedures for the work area.
- Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
- Minimize risk to patient and staff by practicing MRI Safety Screening for every person entering the MRI Exam Room.
- Prepare patients for MRI procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions, and understanding the risks of SAR and adjusting technological factors to ensure patient exposure is at an acceptable level.
- Protect patients, self, and other staff from hazards, taking images following established procedures for patient care and safety, processing images, and checking images for clarity.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient records.
- Ensure operation of MRI equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, and maintaining equipment inventories.
- Maintain required records, including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports.
- Perform quality control checks to assure MRI units meet standards and certifications required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Maintain license and continuing education requirements by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- High School diploma or equivalent, and completion of an accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging program required.
- National registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is preferred.
- American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) is preferred.
- Current compliance with continuing medical education (CME) requirements.
- Current CPR certification for health care providers.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist in a comparable environment.
- IV Credentialed if applicable.
- Bilingual may be required at certain clinics or during certain shifts.
Salinas Valley Health Clinics requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a valid religious or medical reason not to be vaccinated.
