Position Overview:


The role requires the operation of various types of vehicles to fulfill essential safety functions, including but not limited to, managing manual transmissions and securing loads with chains.

Candidates must be adept at navigating diverse terrains, routes, and environmental conditions.

Responsibilities include the safe operation of a tractor-trailer for transporting goods in compliance with company policies, as well as federal, state, and local regulations regarding driving hours and safety standards set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

Adherence to all FMCSA requirements for holders of a Commercial Driver's License is mandatory.
Maintain necessary documentation to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Ensure the security of both equipment and cargo.

Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to confirm the safe operational status of the vehicle prior to departure and upon return.

Monitor gauges and indicators for any malfunctions, verify seals or locks on trailers, and perform inspections before and during trips to identify potential issues.

Report any maintenance concerns to the supervisor without delay.
Utilization of in-cab technology, including electronic logging devices, may be required.
Flexibility in driving schedules may be necessary based on operational needs.
Assist in various capacities as dictated by business requirements.
Regular attendance is essential.

Qualifications:


A High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or a combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background.

A minimum of 2 years of CDL driving experience is required.
Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is essential.
Registration with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is mandatory.
Must reside within a reasonable distance from the assigned terminal.
Ability to operate a tractor-trailer in accordance with FMCSA driving time regulations.
Physical tasks include standing, lifting, twisting, turning, and climbing.

Must be capable of dropping and hooking trailers, which involves cranking landing gear and pulling a 5th wheel pin requiring approximately 65 lbs. of force; as well as maneuvering a trailer dolly.

Must provide an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Familiarity with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA regulations is required.
Passing a FMCSA mandated medical examination is necessary.
A successful road test is also required.
Ability to meet FMCSA standards for English language comprehension is essential.
Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs., or more as required by job functions.

Capability to drive on all routes and in various terrains, including steep inclines, winding roads, and bridges.

Ability to operate in a wide range of environmental conditions, including rain, wind, snow, freezing temperatures, and high heat.

Proficiency in all safety and operational functions of vehicles, including chaining tires and driving manual transmission vehicles, is necessary.

Compliance with all company policies, rules, procedures, and the Code of Conduct is expected.
Strong interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.

Responds effectively to inquiries; possesses the ability to read, interpret, and comply with written information and documents such as safety protocols, operational manuals, and maintenance instructions with a high level of comprehension and focus, including the ability to meet deadlines.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will undergo a criminal history background check.

Authorization to work in the United States is required.
