About the Role:

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Field/Base Network Engineer to join our team on the Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) Contract. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a large technical team virtually and interact directly with customers to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Oversee key resources supporting Incident Response, Change Management, Problem Management, Operations and Maintenance (O&M), project sustainment, and other ITSM and DevSecOps initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Government to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide COMSEC Local Element support to assigned locations, including managing COMSEC hardware/software assets and key inventories.
  • Document work activities and maintain accurate site documentation.
  • Initiate software upgrades and changes to the NGEN-R system and communications infrastructure.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and removal/replacement of faulty hardware.
  • Interface with the Network Operations Center (NOC) to support incident troubleshooting and restoral.
  • Support network configuration/asset management activities and manage configuration drift.
  • Support Cybersecurity requirements and implementation of security controls.
  • Coordinate network upgrades and planned maintenance activities with NGEN-R Program and customer stakeholders.
  • Perform monitoring of network systems and proactively identify potential issues.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience troubleshooting complex routing and switching issues.
  • 5+ years' experience configuring switches, routers, network appliances, WAN acceleration devices.
  • DOD Secret Security Clearance with ability to upgrade to and maintain a TS Security Clearance.
  • Minimum of DoD IAT Level II Certification required prior to onboarding.
  • Ability to be scheduled to work or be called in to work during off hours and weekends to meet customer mission support requirements.
  • Customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in IT Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • MPLS experience.
  • DevOps, CI/CD experience.
  • Scripting experience (i.e. Python, etc...).
  • Automation experience (i.e. Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc...).
  • SDN/SD WAN experience.
  • Professional or Expert level vendor certifications.
  • ITIL certifications.
Pay Range:

$41-48/hourly rate.
